Unwrapping a Testimony

Yesterday was Christmas,
and while I was grateful to be around my love ones, it could not overshadow the emptiness I felt that day. The emptiness that I'm sure a lot of us feel during the holidays; the spirit of loneliness. As I scrolled down my timeline on my Facebook page, I knew that I wasn't alone. I couldn't seem to shake my self-loathing. That's when the Lord led me to his word in Psalms 18:8--It is better to trust in Lord than to put your confidence in man. I was putting my self-worth in man and that was my first mistake.

My friends, our identity is in God Almighty, not who we're with or not with, not what type of car we drive, or what type of job we have. We are great, because our greatness comes from him. The enemy would love for us to be depressed on the day that we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior. He wants to kill our spirits, steal our joy, and destroy of relationship with God. Don't let him!!

As we get through the holiday season, let us thank our father in heaven for keeping us hidden from toxic relationships and unfulfilled careers. Have you ever thought that God is keeping us hidden for a reason? God doesn't want just good enough for our lives, God is preparing us for greater. But in order for us to gain everything that God has for our lives, we must put our trust in him and not in our circumstances.

Prayer of the week:

Father God, I pray that as we resume our daily routine this week, you keep us hidden in the deepest part of your heart. King Jesus, when the enemy begins to whisper in our ears about all the things that we don't have in our lives, let the holy spirit grow in our souls to reassure us that your love fills every empty void. Amen.

Hidden Figures, Open Grace

Just finished watching one of the most remarkable stories told in 2016; Hidden Figures. From start to finish each one of these ladies had a keen sense of purpose in who they were and their capabilities in what they could bring to NASA. In the movie, engineer Mary Jackson was discouraged by her husband in pursuing her engineering aspirations. He tried  to write out her story but little did he know that God had already written her destiny. God had written out each one of these ladies stories; taking their talents that he instilled in them, and giving them the tools to make history.  Katherine Johnson-- a brilliant mind who calculated spaceship launches for NASA. Although she had lost her husband and was left with three little girls to raise, the Lord still had favor on her life. She remarried and has been with her husband for over 50 years. Can you imagine after fighting racism, sexism, and analytical geometry, she was still able to...

Trump is president, not God Almighty

It has barely been a week since Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the United States' 45th President. Since then outcries, protests, and downright defiance has been slung at the Trump Administration. This has developed a dark cloud of hopelessness on the country that we can't seem to shake.  Trump will be responsible for governing this country for at least the next four years; there's no alternative fact about that. However, he should not be the Alpha and Omega, nor the center of our lives. That place should only be reserved for God. So I urge you, put your trust in him. I understand that these are trying times but if you know God's word, you know that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind . So while it's perfectly human to express your anxieties and frustrations, it is important for us to not be complacent in our bubble of worry. This is what happens when we put our trust in man. The Lord tel...
