Trump is president, not God Almighty

It has barely been a week since Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the United States' 45th President. Since then outcries, protests, and downright defiance has been slung at the Trump Administration. This has developed a dark cloud of hopelessness on the country that we can't seem to shake.  Trump will be responsible for governing this country for at least the next four years; there's no alternative fact about that. However, he should not be the Alpha and Omega, nor the center of our lives. That place should only be reserved for God.

So I urge you, put your trust in him. I understand that these are trying times but if you know God's word, you know that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. So while it's perfectly human to express your anxieties and frustrations, it is important for us to not be complacent in our bubble of worry. This is what happens when we put our trust in man. The Lord tell us to place ALL of our cares upon HIM, because he cares for us.

This is not to advise you to become completely oblivious to the world around you. But before you turn on your television to watch the signing of another executive order while wondering "How is this going to effect my life?", change the narrative. Say "I am not going to let this administration bring so much strife and anguish into my spirit, that is separates me from my Heavenly father". Declare that your God is bigger than any president or administration because he is. And this too shall pass.

Unwrapping a Testimony

Yesterday was Christmas,  and while I was grateful to be around my love ones, it could not overshadow the emptiness I felt that day. The emptiness that I'm sure a lot of us feel during the holidays; the spirit of loneliness. As I scrolled down my timeline on my Facebook page, I knew that I wasn't alone. I couldn't seem to shake my self-loathing. That's when the Lord led me to his word in Psalms 18:8--It is better to trust in Lord than to put your confidence in man. I was putting my self-worth in man and that was my first mistake. My friends, our identity is in God Almighty, not who we're with or not with, not what type of car we drive, or what type of job we have. We are great, because our greatness comes from him. The enemy would love for us to be depressed on the day that we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior. He wants to kill our spirits, steal our joy, and destroy of relationship with God. Don't let him!!   ...

Gotta have faith, faith, faith

Blessings readers. I know I’ve been M.I.A. for a minute but I’m back!! Now let’s see, has anything interesting happened to me within the last few months? Well, I got a job, lost the job, had a car accident, and lost my pet cat (she decided to run into the wild after being let out of her pet carrier to stretch her legs…big mistake). Oh, I almost forgot, I got a flat tire today on my rental car! Yaaaay! Ever heard of the catch phrase “ The devil is busy! ”? When incidents like these occur in our lives it’s easy to blame the mishaps on the devil, but that’s not always the case. When I lost my job, God revealed my issues with anger. I then asked the Lord to remove the spirit of anger from my heart. Soon after, it appeared that problems came like clockwork. And from the outside looking in it could seem that the enemy was trying to dictate my life. But it wasn’t the work of the enemy. It was God’s way of building my character and faith. Think about the story of Joseph in Genesis a...

Growing in God

Seeing the old you in someone else can be hard to face. I experienced that today. I got a long glimpse of the very blunt, judgmental, and sometimes down right mean side of who I use to be. But the great thing about seeing shadows of your former self, is that we get to see how much God has grown in us spiritually. As we go into the new year, let us be thankful for our changed hearts and renewed spirits. And let us pray for those who must learn to grow in God's grace. Prayer for the week: Father God, I ask that as we go through this week, we are reminded each day of your saving grace. When we are tempted to undo the works of your blood, keeps us grounded and remind us of your holy word. Remind us that we are not who we use to be, and that we are still growing as we walk in your light. Amen 1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
